I'm a former U.S. History teacher at Waverly Public High School, District #145. For the vast majority of my time at Waverly, I taught U.S. History (Freshman Level) and College US History (for dual credit through Nebraska Wesleyan University during my last twelve years teaching).
I taught for 38 years ("From Chalk to AI"), the last 28 at Waverly (I retired as a teacher in May 2023). I was a head coach for 25 years; from 1995 - 2010, I was the Head Boys Soccer Coach at Waverly, and prior to that from 1985 - 1995 I was the social studies teacher and head boys basketball coach at Johnson-Brock Junior-Senior Public High School.
In May, 2005, I was honored to be named the Gilder-Lehrman Institute of American History Nebraska History Teacher of the Year for 2004 - 2005. Also, I was included in the 61st (2007) through the 69th (2014) editions of "Who's Who in America", and the 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th editions of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers".
I graduated from Burnsville High School in suburban Minneapolis in 1980, and then earned a B.S. at now-closed Dana College (Blair, NE) in 1984. I earned my first Master's Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1991 in Curriculum & Instruction, and my second Master's Degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in History in 2012.
